We’re proud to share that all staff have completed Asthma Awareness training last week, helping us achieve Asthma Friendly accredited status. This important initiative is designed to improve care for pupils with asthma and raise awareness of this common long-term condition.

To earn this accreditation, our school, led by the lovely Barnsley Hospital NHS team has committed to:

✅ Training all staff in Asthma Awareness
✅ Implementing an Asthma Policy and maintaining an Asthma Register
✅ Ensuring consistent inhaler storage across the school
✅ Creating a system to track inhaler expiry dates
✅ Keeping a spare emergency inhaler and spacer on site
✅ Establishing clear escalation procedures for individual cases

This is another step forward in making sure our pupils with asthma feel safe, supported, and ready to thrive during their time at Dodworth.
