Welcome to Year 1 and 2
In Years 1 and 2, pupils build strong foundations in Reading, Writing and Mathematics through an engaging and nurturing curriculum. Learning is carefully structured to support children as they transition from the Early Years into more formal learning, while still encouraging curiosity, creativity and enjoyment. Throughout Key Stage 1, we place a strong emphasis on personal development, helping pupils to grow in confidence, independence and resilience. By the end of Year 2, pupils are enthusiastic learners with strong foundations ready for the challenges of Key Stage 2.
Year 1 & 2 Long Term Plan
Our Long Term Plan shows how the curriculum is taught and organised across the year for the Year 1 & 2 class. As a mixed age class, learning is planned over two cycles, known as Year A and Year B, to ensure full coverage of the curriculum for all children. We are currently following the Year A cycle.
