PSHE
Personal, social, health and economic education at our school is carefully planned to support pupils’ wellbeing, personal development and understanding of the world around them. Our PSHE curriculum is aligned with statutory guidance and is designed to help children develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes they need to lead healthy, safe and fulfilling lives.
Through PSHE, pupils are taught about relationships, health and wellbeing, emotions, responsibility and economic understanding in an age appropriate and supportive way. Lessons encourage pupils to talk openly, listen to others and develop empathy, resilience and respect. Children are supported to understand themselves, build positive relationships and make informed choices as they grow and develop.
PSHE is also embedded across the wider life of the school. We actively support a range of charitable causes, such as Red Nose Day and Macmillan coffee mornings, helping pupils to understand the importance of compassion, generosity and social responsibility. These experiences allow children to see how their actions can make a positive difference within their community and beyond.
Daily collective worship plays an important role in supporting PSHE provision. Through stories, reflection and discussion, pupils explore themes such as kindness, perseverance, honesty, respect and forgiveness. These shared experiences reinforce key PSHE messages and provide pupils with regular opportunities to reflect on their values and behaviour.
Our PSHE curriculum supports our school vision of ‘Preparing for life’s big adventure’. By developing confidence, emotional literacy and a strong moral compass, pupils are equipped with the skills they need to face challenges, build positive relationships and take their place as caring and responsible members of society.
