Welcome to Year 5 and 6
In Years 5 and 6, pupils enjoy an exciting and challenging curriculum that prepares them for the transition to secondary school. Learning is carefully planned to build confidence, independence and a love of learning, while ensuring every child achieves their full potential. Throughout Years 5 and 6, we support pupils’ personal development, helping them to grow in confidence, resilience and responsibility. By the end of Year 6, pupils are well prepared for secondary school – academically, socially and emotionally – and are ready to embrace the next stage of their learning journey.
Year 5 & 6 Long Term Plan
Our Long Term Plan shows how the curriculum is taught and organised across the year for the Year 5 & 6 class. As a mixed age class, learning is planned over two cycles, known as Year A and Year B, to ensure full coverage of the curriculum for all children. We are currently following the Year A cycle.
Curriculum Overviews
The curriculum overviews below show what children in Year 5 and Year 6 are learning each half term. They outline the key areas of learning taught in class and help parents and carers understand how knowledge and skills are developed over time.
